Final Crits

Woke up today, filled with nerves in anticipation for my final crit. The most nerve wrecking thing was that I was going first. However, I’ve never been met with such positive feedback. One crit even said I ‘should teach a class on lineweights’. There was a few minor criticisms on what I was expecting, otherwise they loved it. My prof and TA even came and congratulated me afterwards . And I know for a fact not everyone recieved this special treatment. After the most sleep deprived week, actually make that semester, this was the best way to end it all. The best way to end this incredible experience.

I really have come so far this semester. I actually feel like I can do this. I just need to be reminded of it more often.

Do I really have to leave?

The only thing keeping me awake for the past few days as I do my homework has been watching trashy TV. Keeping Up with the Kardashians was my show of choice and I just totally love this girl! No idea why, shes just is.

Spring in New York City

Finals

After having a near heart attack the other day (multiple times may I add) over how stressed I was about my homework, I can safely say I’m now actually feeling like I can survive ‘the week from hell’ next week aka final crits for my two studios.

Many late nights in the Diana ahead of me, but at least I get to watch New York pass by outside on Broadway! (I’m sitting in the glass cantilevered cube now as I write this!)

After discovering Henri Bendel today, I could forsee this being me if i could only afford it….

Its mesmerising seeing New York from above - to see how tiny and insignificant all the individual parts are that somehow come together to create this fanatical whole that I’m incredibly in love with.

In other news

There’s all these fancy cars on 116th, literally on the doorstep of the dorm I first moved into. Turns out they are casually filming a coen brothers movie, starring Carey Mulligan and Justin Timberlake.

Another day, another casual celebrity appearance at uni.

If there is anything I have learnt from studying architecture

it is that language is a huge barrier at describing how things can be understood, operate and function.  I’m realising that there isn’t actually words for the concepts I’m trying to explore or are being asked to understand in class. No wonder I find this course always so demanding and difficult; I can’t deal with things I can’t put a label on.
